Hey everyone, we’re back with another episode to try to understand what’s going on with American economics and how it relates to you on a personal level, especially as physicians. In case you missed it, 3 days ago, SC and I put out an episode that discussed, amongst other things, rebalancing your investment portfolio and the rate cut by the federal bank. So, go back and check that out if you missed it. Anyhow, SC has graciously returned to discuss changes in the financial landscape over the past 3 days.

Before we get into the program, let’s go over some housekeeping items. If you are enjoying and gaining value from the Hippocratic Hustle Podcast, please support the show through our Patreon: or, if you have goods or services that you’d like advertised on the show, shoot me an email at to see if it’s a good fit.

My guest today, Sarah Catherine Gutierrez, aka SC, is a speaker, writer and owner of a financial planning company, called Aptus Financial. She is passionate about demystifying the financial world to women so that they can focus on the most important thing we need to do: save money for our future selves. SC also runs a blog for women and finance called, "LadySplainingMoney." SC was a featured speaker at the recent WCI conference. She lives a beautifully simple life under quarantine in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The opinions expressed in the Blog are for general informational purposes only and are not intended to provide specific advice or recommendations for any individual or on any specific security or investment product.  It is only intended to provide education about the financial industry. The views reflected in the commentary are subject to change at any time without notice.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why congress may halt evictions and what effect this has on real estate investments?
  • Why you should refinance your house now with the lower interest rates.
  • What you should curtail spending on at the moment to increase savings.
  • When the government may approve the stimulus bill and what it may provide.
  • How the federal tax return filing date being moved to July 15th is helpful.
  • How to defer student loan payments without penalty for three months.
  • How unemployment rates have exploded and will continue to do so in the future.
  • Why it’s super important to do an expense scrub to save during this time.
  • How to do “The Next Right Thing” courtesy of Frozen 2.
  • Why you need to tune out the media, and other prognosticators, and stick with your plan to cut expenses, create savings and invest wisely.
  • How you can use the market downturn as an opportunity to learn about your brain and its predictive powers (or impediments) in order to train for the next downturn.
